Mr. Roger likes to keep his eyes peeled for community-based events around Seattle. Who doesn’t love a good neighborhood party? For residents, a neighborhood gathering offers the opportunity to learn about “the people in your neighborhood”, make new friends, and foster community pride. For non-residents (or resident wanna-bes), an event provides an excellent way to get to know the area and its inhabitants.
As a new feature of the blog, I’ll be posting neighborhood happenings as they pop up across my radar screen. Here are a few that I’ve collected:
Ballard Seafood Fest – July 13 & 14
2 days of food and entertainment celebrating Ballard and its Scandinavian heritage in the heart of Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood
More information at http://www.seafoodfest.org/.
Wedgwood Art Festival – July 13 & 14
Art, music, and fun in Seattle’s Wedgwood neighborhood
More information at http://www.wedgwoodfestival.com/.
Chinatown’s Dragonfest – July 13 & 14
Dancing, taiko drumming, and more at this annual celebration in Seattle’s International District
More information and schedule of events at http://www.cidbia.org/.
And, as always, Mr. Roger wants to hear what you think about local events around the Puget Sound. What are you doing this weekend?
